Medicines and medical devices
If you need medication or medical devices and you have Health Insurance Fund coverage, you do not have to cover all the costs yourself.
The Health Insurance Fund helps pay for medicines if they are included in the list of subsidized medicines. Depending on the medicine and diagnosis, the subsidy may be 50%, 75%, 90%, or 100%.
The list of subsidized medicines is updated every three months: on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.
Larger discounts apply to essential medications for serious and chronic illnesses, as well as to old-age and disability pensioners and children under the age of 4.
The Health Insurance Fund also supports the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases by offering discounts on relevant medicines and vaccines.
Smart choices help you save money
The Health Insurance Fund has set maximum prices for medicines, which are used as the basis for calculating discounts. If you buy a medicine that is more expensive than the maximum price, you will have to pay the difference yourself. Therefore, making an informed choice at the pharmacy can save you a considerable amount of money.
Medicines with the same active ingredient are equally effective, safe, and of high quality, but their prices can vary greatly, so it is worth asking the pharmacy for the most affordable option.
Medicines with the same active ingredient are of equal quality and safety!
