Comparison of compensation
Overview of the conditions for compensation for care, illness, and pregnancy leave, as well as the amount and duration of compensation in different situations.
Although there are many services reimbursed by the Health Insurance Fund, sickness and care benefits are the only benefits paid out in financial terms. Dental care and other benefits are deducted from the price of the service when paying for it (i.e., essentially, when paying for dental care or medication, for example, you receive a discount equal to the amount of the benefit).
Sickness and care benefits are paid on the basis of a certificate of incapacity for work. Certificates of incapacity for work are divided into sickness and care certificates, and there are many different reasons why a doctor may issue them. Different reasons for absence from work also have different conditions for receiving benefits and different payment procedures.
Below is an explanation of when a doctor can issue a care certificate, when a sickness certificate can be issued, and what benefits are associated with them.
Please note!
From January 1, 2026, there will be a maximum limit on sickness and care benefits per calendar day, above which no further compensation will be paid.
When the maximum limit is applied, the compensation rate on the certificate of incapacity for work is 100%.
